I don't know who is doing this but someone is tampering with some of the comments i have posted which were neither derogative nor slanderous...maybe a bit tongue in cheek...Re my comments on improving Glenrowan which was edited
What happened to free speech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am getting rather shitty and pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How dare anyone do this...that is what a forum is about!!!!
I don't want to sound like a wanker BUT this is MY families story...how dare anyone stop me from giving my opinion fully, especially when people are commenting and sometimes trashing MY descendants and their actions and many out their have made a good deal of money out of a OUR story, and if I think something needs to change for the better I think I should have the right to SAY IT!!!
I have always been proud of them all and will always defend them and their actions and their memory.
so if someone posts a thread I will comment honestly of what I think.
I don't need someone editing what I have written.
If you want this forum to be treated like a leper from the descendants side go right ahead keep it up.

A really Pissed off and angry

I do not want to stop free speech

kellycountry2000
I do not want to stop free speech, BUT if I see anything offensive it will be deleted
please tell us all where on this forum has anybody said anything bad about your family

When I wrote this rule I thought that would be enough,
but after numerous complaints,
For the purpose of this forum "free speech" does not mean open season on swearing, slander or offensive statements, by all means have your say, ask questions, give answers or opinions, when you all enter this forum you all agree to the rule, end of story.

From the 1st of August all posts will be moderated so children can read them.

 Free Speech.

Lola Rowe
Yes. "free speech", could we not use our own names instead of an ALIAS,
I, did not like the thought of photos being sold either, but when I ask questions or complain, my given name is used. What an odd ALIAS to use, as "PROVIDORE"
IS EXTREMELY SPECIAL. Used by my Grandfather, (My Mothers Father in law),
Mum who is still living and well, would find this hard to understand. Yes. there are many relatives from the Lloyd/ Hart family alive and well, some speak up and others don't, but if we do we, do not USUALLY hide behind an anonymous name,
names are written in full, with nothing to hide !!!!
I find this site is a great place to express an opinion, not BICKER.

Thu Jul 22 16:30:45 2004
Come out of the closet dear Relo

Paul O
We dont Bicker..i just express my opinion under MY NAME...not hiding behind an alias..
Q .who puffs out their chests and thinks their famous?????...My only claim to fame is i got pissed one night and bought a t-shirt in Hawaii with my Medicare card!!!!...now.my mates recon im famous......yeah sure i have an amazing family...with a very rich Australian heritage..and bloody proud of them too...but i dont think im anything special...just a normal bloke.

I have met so many great people the past few years at the dinners held including at Jerilderie...and i don't think i have come accross as thinking im
something special???..If that was true I'd ask for a free ticket to these events wouldn't I???..plenty out there in Kelly land got one!!!...Lola, Noeleen and Myself have always paid our way and never asked for a freebie either!!!!and just sat back and had a good time.

Maybe one of my faults is that i love my family and cherish my friends and will defend them..maybe thats an old trait....lol..if thats coming accross as bickering well im guilty..

you also talk about distant relatives..is you G Grandmother distant??? is her brother distant??? is the stories passed down to you as a child distant???...come on....how you can say distant relatives!!!!........TRY DIRECT..

And the high horses comment...hmmmmmm....i will admit (shock! horror!) the only horse i can ride is either attached to merry go round or rocks back and forth
...
Please if you going to say your a Descendant please have the testicular fortitude (see Bruce i didnt swear this time!!!!!) to stand behind your comments as i and my other relatives do.

 opinion vs bickering vs pride

Noeleen Lloyd
I am disappointed that "The Providore" would not use thier real name. If you are related and proud to be, then be proud to use your name.

I am proud of the LLOYD name first and foremost as that is who I am. I would be proud of my family whether they were part of Australian history or not. I am proud of what my Grandfather and father achieved - they are LLOYDS. Everyone in Austalia is part of Australian HIstory, we are but 200 years old. History is a living thing, it is happening all the time.

I am equally as proud of the dirt poor Irish farmers and railroad gangers my maternal grandparents were, as I am of my Paternal side.

A forum is for expressing opinions and fostering healthy debate. It is not for agreeing all the time. Part of history is looking at it from many different angles and forming our own thoughts and ideas. Those thoughts and ideas should be challenged. I am not offended by challenges to my opinion, but have the right to defend that. It is good and healthy to have debate.

I have not seen any bickereing, what I do see is a group of people with a common interest who look at things in different ways. There are any different opinions on this forum and that is fine by me. I am sure Bruce intended to foster some spirited discussion when he set up the forum. That is what they are for.

Making money? That's probably why I work 50+hours a week, have a mortage and drive a 10 year old car.

Puff my chest out? Well, I'm proud of my family on both sides. I have the right to be. We all do. Whether they are "famous" or not.

Be proud of your name and use it.

Noeleen

 Bickering........&

Tim
Hey all, I can't help but laugh to myself when I read this particular thread over & over. Again it is only the " descendants " with all due respect that are involved. Please for the future sake of this forum can we get back into the purpose of it. Normal everyday people who have a love and respect for the whole Kelly story and who enjoy...........

(A) Talking to " other " normal everyday people about it.
(B) Sharing a passion for the Kelly story ( Complete ! )
(C) Relating to past & future experience's inc exhibitions, sites, tours etc.
(D) Feedback on dinners, shows, movies, websites etc.
(E) Organizing events inc BBQ's, trips to sites, etc.
(F) Sharing our own memories on Kelly related matters.
(G) Meeting other normal people who share the same dream...Hello Shaz !
(H) Having experts & descendants who can help with questions.

It is an honour to have " free speech " in a forum that includes descendants and other " big hitters " in the story, lets just get back to the fun aspect as Bruce originally intended it for. I would be devastated if this forum was pulled because of it.

Tim.

You said that very well, Tim. I applaud you for saying it in a very tactful and yet heartfelt way. This forum is something that has been needed for a long time to put us average everyday Kelly admirers in touch with one other and any visit and input by the real movers and shakers in the Kelly world like Dave White or Bill Denheld or Matt Shore or others of their ilk is an added bonus! What an opportunity for all of us to come together and discuss and learn about the Kelly story and disseminate any new information. I surely hope that Bruce does allow this forum to go on. As a matter of fact, I have really quite enjoyed chatting on here with you and Joe D. and though we are all 3 basically rookies and the others are the 'heavy hitters', we are all still in the ball park playing right along! cheers, Sharon

Congrats Tim on saying so precisely what I think most of us feel. I know that Bruce has put in a lot of time and effort to make this forum available for us. It is a place for ALL of us to have a say and participate in civil and intelligent discussions -NOT personal attacks on people and places. I agree with Paul that we all have the right to discuss any issue we see fit but comments like "..this forum to be treated like a leper from the descendents side" are counterproductive. Some tongue in cheek comments may not seem offensive to the author but may be offensive to the subject. Free speech does not give us the right to personally attack or make derogatory inferences about someone elses character. The "Kelly World" is made up of a mixture of characters - each bringing something unique and just as valid as anyone else. You may not like how they do things but they deserve basic human respect. Let's keep this forum a place for fun, intelligent debate where all of us -descendent or not - can express our valid yet different points of view.

Just a note to the providore
Nicole Jones

I too agree with your statement that making negative comments doesn't help anyone but think your push to find out about these photos should be dealt with elsewhere. This thread is about Free Speech and not about the Lloyd/Hart photos. How about starting a new thread if it is so important or better yet - seeing that you claim to be a descendent - talk to the family directly. Just a thought.

 kELLY EXHIBITIONS
Matt Shore
In response to 'The Providore'.

Hi everybody,

I am responding to the above post from 'The Providore', purely in a professional capacity, and because I am named in his/her most recent post to this site.

I have been involved in two major Ned Kelly exhibitions. Both exhibitions have showcased rare and interesting items.

When relics/documents/photographs etc were sourced for both shows, the owners of material were asked how they would like to have their items acknowledged. Some were happy to have their own names on labels for relics. The vast majority, however, requested that they be referred to as 'Private collection'.

I can't recall exactly how the photograph in question was captioned at Ned: The Exhibition. It was not displayed at The Legend Of Ned Kelly, for obvious reasons.

I do recall a few requests from people who were interested in further information on the photograph (commonly referred to as 'Gentleman Ned'), and its origins. It had never been displayed before, and understandably caused a great deal of interest.

As with all requests received through the exhibition, the owners would have been consulted before private information was given out, even if information was requested from people claiming to be family members.

Interestingly, I was contacted by the fellow who purchased the photograph the day after he bought it. He offered it for display in a Kelly exhibition, immediately prior to the furore that erupted in the media only a few days later.

As with all items displayed in the past and indeed in the future, all information on the ownership of material is kept confidential.

May I suggest to 'The Providore' to seek information in a less public manner.

Cheers,

Matt Shore
Formerly of Ned: The Exhibition.

ALIAS PROVIDORE !!!!!! I do wish you would choose another name if you wish to remain unknown, but nothing from me till I know who I am speaking too !!
Yes. Bruce a great site, and I am sure the descendents are not being too over the fence with judgements, this is a free and democratic country where all have an opinion, Friends, Relatives, and Sympathisers, the same as was wanted and fought for in the 1800.

Fortunately, the computer I use at the local community house has Net Nanny firmly attached so even if I wanted to, I couldn't read rude words like ######## or ############# or even ## ### #####!!!!!!!!!
On a more serious note, this forum is too fabulous to be endangered by a bit of hot blood. We non-family people who treasure the gang's story are so lucky to be able to engage with family members in this way. We are presumably all rowing in the same boat and while there are bound to be disagreements along the way, this forum is the perfect place to sort them out in a civilized manner. But could I ask (nicely) if Providore could go easy on the capital letters?
I shall finish "with no offence and a sweet goodbye"!

 Net filters, ugh!
Sharon in the USA

Talking about "net nanny" filters, I ran into roadblocks from the "surf patrol" filter at my local library recently when I was there checking a few things. I tried to get a better look on Dave's site at the photos of the little Neds on the "Tim's Figures" page...well, access was "restricted"! At home I double-checked and the only "suggestive" term on there was "figures"!!!!!! Of course you can imagine what happened when I tried to have a look at Joe D's fisho forum called HOOKED ONE!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!! Sometimes the censors go a bit too far, huh? Marian, might the net nanny catch and x out the word d*mn you used in another post, too? LOL! Sharon
